Friends of the Children has directly provided much needed healthcare, community education, hope and empathy to thousands of people in southern Haiti for more than 25 years.
Our American medical volunteers have trained and worked alongside Haitian team members to provide consistent and lifesaving care. A triage system is utilized to prioritize care of the acutely ill and injured patients. Chronic medical conditions, such as hypertension, diabetes, and seizures are managed through patient education and long term daily medications. It has been a few years since we have been able to take a medical team to Haiti due to circumstances beyond our control, such as COVID, political unrest, lack of functioning government, gang violence and kidnappings.
The needs are enormous! But because of your generous support and our long-standing relationships we have been able to continue our work.

EDUCATION
We believe that the path out of poverty is education.
Elevating Haitian Education (EHE) is our vehicle.
50 sponsored children are in the elementary program and three have progressed to the university level!!
Dear Friends,
Your support and commitment to Friends of the Children directly benefits the thousands of patients who visit our clinic twice a year. Approximately 400 of our patients have chronic medical conditions such as hypertension diabetes, asthma, and seizures. |
During each mission patients are re-evaluated and provided a six-month supply of medications. As you can image the resources necessary to provide this quality of medication is significant. It is only through your generosity that this level of healthcare can be continued. |
We thank you - our Haitian patients thank you from the bottom of their hearts.

The Children - Haiti
Currently, one in five children in Haiti are malnourished...one in ten are acutely malnourished, and one in 14 will die before reaching the age of five. The effects of acute and chronic malnutrition are life-long. Severe malnutrition suffered in the first two years of life in Haiti results in irreversible physical and mental disabilities.
